The Alliance is grateful for the ongoing ministry of our Active Hope Partner, Zimbabwe Theological Seminary (ZTS). With the support of JourneyPartners and Alliance gifts, ZTS continues to expand its work of preparing leaders to meet the pressing needs of their communities.
In late August, ZTS hosted Rev. Stephen Price of Seeds of Hope and Healing for two three-day seminars in Trauma Counseling and Care at the Harare and Gweru campuses. He also led a weekend workshop on addictions and substance use at Tafara Baptist Church, where Rev. Muno Chirovamavi serves as pastor. Out of that gathering, the congregation organized a Recovery Team to carry the work forward, showing how community-based responses can spark lasting change.
Altogether, more than 200 participants took part in the seminars and workshops, with 60 completing the trauma counseling program in Harare and receiving certificates. ZTS is also exploring ways to add Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) to its curriculum—further equipping pastors and leaders for care rooted in both skill and compassion.
This is the heart of what the Alliance calls Active Hope: resourcing partners to chart their own path, grounded in context, wisdom, and vision. The Alliance has committed 18% of undesignated gifts to support partners like ZTS, walking alongside them as they respond to the challenges and opportunities before them.
Together, we give thanks for the witness of ZTS—for its courage to imagine new models of ministry, its commitment to healing in the face of trauma, and its vision for a church deeply connected to community.
