The award was given to the congregation for its "steadfast commitment and significant contribution to the mission and ministry of the Alliance of Baptists," said Paula Clayton Dempsey, the Alliance's director of partnership relations.
"You have modeled the principles upheld in our covenant, mission and vision. You have sacrificially supported our mission and ministry. You are the essence of what it means to be Alliance of Baptists," she told members of the congregation present at the annual meeting of the gathering.
Baptist Church of the Covenant, formed in 1970 and one of the first to join the Alliance, is a leader in its community, addressing social needs and justice concerns, and challenging its members to radical discipleship.
