Keynote Speakers
Dr. James Forbes is senior minister emeritus of The Riverside Church in New York City, where he served for 18 years. He was the first Joe R. Engle Professor of Preaching at Union Theological Seminary where he taught homiletics for 13 years. A highly acclaimed author, scholar, and sought-after speaker, he is affectionately referred to as the “preacher’s preacher.” He and his wife, Bettye, will be coming to the retreat from Raleigh, N.C., where the two of them are now making their home.
Dr. Jon Singletary is dean and professor of the Diana R. Garland School of Social Work at Baylor University, where he has served on faculty since 2003. He has directed the Baylor Center for Family and Community Ministry, with research focused on congregational discernment and engagement in ministry. He is married to Wendi, who teaches first grade, and couple lives with five adolescents in their home. Jon serves on the Alliance CAIRN Leadership Group.

An opportunity to learn from one another will take place in small groups where we will look at real situations from our ministries and seek wisdom and support from one another and from God. Facilitating these small groups will be:

Robert Renix who serves as supervisory chaplain and director of chaplain services at St. Elizabeth's Hospital, Washington, D.C.
Nancy Osborne who is director of spiritual care and chaplaincy at Erlanger Health System, Chattanooga, Tenn.

Mimi Walker who has been senior pastor at the Church at Ponce Highland, Atlanta, Ga. since 2008.
