Photos from the Republic of Georgia

January 2006

These photos show the dire situation of people in Georgia. Read about the situation.

Snow covers the hillside around Tblisi in the Republic of Georgia. Much of the city is without heat.

People of Tblisi still need your support.

Families were given logs of wood to take home to try to keep warm.

"In the action of the church we saw the face of Jesus, beautiful and amazing."

Members of the Cathredral Church in Tblisi got a loaf of bread thanks to gifts sent to the Evangelical Baptist Church of Georgia.

Cathredral Baptist Church in Tblisi.

Presiding Bishop Malkhaz Songulashvili went to visit a Russian-Moroccan family on the edge of the city in order to deliver bread and food.

"The Chesniakov family is made up only by two persons. 70 years old Nadia and 87 years old Maria. They live in small flat in the typical Soviet type block of flats. Being accompanied by a couple of people from the church we claimed concrete steps which were falling apart.  In the room it was freezing cold. the wind was blowing from a broken window. The word terrible is a mild word to explain the conditions in the flat. No heating, no light.Nadia is paralyzed and cannot move neither her body nor her head. Maria is on her feet but most likely suffering from amnesia. Nadia’s head is absolutely clear. She is a remarkable character. They did not complain of anything.

When I was saying goodby to her she whispered in my ear: “Pray that both I and my sister go home (heaven) as soon as possible."
