Crozet
Baptist Church
has just recently sent its third delegation to Havana. Our time was
well spent, not only unlearning
(a process all first timers experience), but a time furthering our close
ties to our brothers and sisters at
Ebenezer. Our meeting with Pastor
Suarez was emotional for
all who participated as we feel that our coming together (forgive the
Calvinism) was
providential. We have much to learn from one another.
For the past two
"fall/winters" we have sponsored six church members from
Ebenezer to spend time
with us in Crozet (a
small town just outside of Charlottesville). And our plans are to
continue this invitation every fall. Our intention for Fall 2005 is to
invite youth as well.
We also plan to take
a delegation from Crozet
to Havana each spring. Our next trip, however, may be in August and
then March. We have two groups with different agendas/calendar
conflicts.
All three pastors
and several deacons have journeyed to Cuba; as well as a youth
delegation which actually performed with Generation with a Purpose (an
ecumenical performance group based out of
Ebenezer).
We are
privileged to work
alongside such incredible Christians; we have much much more to learn.
