Amparo Palacios Lopez began her life as the daughter of two Baptist pastors and is, needless to say, deeply committed to the life of her Baptist congregation. She will be elected to the Board the same spring that she finishes her Ph.D. in Agricultural and Resource Economics at the University of Maryland. Amparo is currently employed by the World Bank in Washington DC. She is married to Michael Settels and they have two daughters, Sarah and Anna, who are growing up trilingual (Spanish, German and English). Amparo is a lay leader at Calvary Baptist Church, an Alliance Partner congregation, where she has served on the Church Council and is currently on the Diaconate.
