Baptist Church of the Covenant
Welcome to Baptist Church of the Covenant. We are a diverse congregation that is committed to worship, Bible study and many local ministries in the city of Birmingham. In addition, we participate in mission efforts in our state and around the world as an expression of our commitment to a risen Lord and His Kingdom.
We were chartered as a church on December 20, 1970, and dedicated the current sanctuary and education wing in 1995. We are currently in the midst of an Urban Research Project that will provide hands on learning and experiences to take us to the next phase of ministry endeavors and the rennovation/expansion of our physical plant.
These are exciting times at Baptist Church of the Covenant. We welcome you and encourage you to get to know us.
Baptist Church of the Covenant holds dear historical Baptist principles, such as:
- the Priesthood of all Believers
- the Autonomy of the Local Church
- Inspiration of Scripture
- Religious Liberty
- the celebration of Baptism and the Lord's Supper as our ordinances
When the church was chartered, twelve statements of commitment were adopted that apply to the individual member as well as the corporate community.
Worship, Bible study and missions anchor the program of worship and service at Baptist Church of the Covenant.
The primary worship service is conducted on Sunday mornings, beginning at 9 a.m. This is followed by a period of refreshments in the Fellowship Hall in which visitors and members get to mingle and share about the work of the church and the needs of the people.
This is followed by an hour of Bible study, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Classes are designed for every age group and interest. See the Preschool, Children’s and Youth Department for studies unique to children. Below is a listing of Adult Classes.
Most adult classes are intergenerational and are for any adults who wish to attend.
