Our Justice in Palestine and Israel Community is collaborating with our mission partner Bright Stars of Bethlehem (BSB) to put together a weekend full of hope and optimism, as we continue to bend the long moral arc of the universe toward justice.

Come join us for a Festival of Hope – including good fellowship among Alliance folks and with those from other faith traditions. We’ll also welcome our brothers and sisters from Palestine.

Of course, there will be great music, delicious Palestinian food, moving films and documentaries, meaningful discussions and powerful words about the situation in the Holy Land – September 25 to 28, in Charlotte, N.C.

BSB’s 2014 tour will include Charlotte. The faculty and students of Al Kalima University will share the stage with musician from Queens University on Thursday evening at the university for a combined concert. This will beautifully kickoff a full weekend of activities.

All day Friday, BSB culinary students will demonstrate cooking Middle Eastern delicacies at a number of different locations in Charlotte with local culinary students. We are told they will share these dishes with us!

On Saturday, the Justice in Palestine and Israel Community will have an all-day program at St. John’s Baptist Church. The program will include Palestinians Speak to Churches where they will share their personal narratives of dispossession, ethnic cleansing, oppression, migration and their deep connection to the Holy Land. After a delicious lunch, a highly acclaimed film about the situation in Israel and Palestine will be shown, followed by a discussion. There will also be a short documentary shown. Saturday evening BSB and our community are planning a “Hafleh” (that’s a party in Arabic). This party will include music, dance fellowship and more delicious food.

On Sunday, our good friend Mitri Raheb will preach during the worship service at Covenant.

If you can, you should not miss this weekend. And, we’ve given you plenty of time to make it fit into your calendar. We hope to see you there! For all the details, click here.
