  • Giving God the Glory

Mary Andreolli, website and AllianceConnect specialist

Believe it or not, every morning when I awake, I hear this song:

Rise and shine and give God the glory, glory

Rise and shine and give God the glory, glory

RISE and SHINE and GIVE God the glory, glory

    Children of the Lord.

Prior to experiencing my partner’s morning ritual, I’d never heard this song. So, imagine both my delight and surprise when I heard children singing this little ditty at Williston-Immanuel United Church during Annual Gathering! Now, like the children and my partner, I too have started singing “Rise and Shine.” For within the Alliance of Baptists there is so much glory to give to God.

As the AllianceConnect & website specialist, I am continuously reminded of the glory to be given to God for AllianceConnect. For two years the AC team—made solely of volunteers—has labored and been in labor birthing with the Spirit AllianceConnect, which has the potential to shape how we create, find and share progressive Christian resources within our faith communities.

Why? Because some time ago, the Alliance heard your need for a place to go and find the best progressive Christian resources out there. And now, the very best part—AllianceConnect belongs to all of you!

The AllianceConnect team will continue to enhance AC (based on your input), share through social media when new resources and communities are added, and provide technical assistance when help is needed. We’ll also look to you for the liturgies, sermons, hymns, prayers, poems and art (you name it!) you create with the hope that you’ll upload these resources into AllianceConnect for all to see and use! It is this spirit of sharing that embodies the Alliance of Baptists! Register on AllianceConnect today and discover the resources folks have already shared. Here’s just a taste of what you’ll find:

Becoming Carbon Positive—video link uploaded by Sarah Macias, Austin, Texas

This documentary is about clergy and faith leaders in Austin, Texas taking action on climate change. Clergy and faith communities have joined across central Texas, forming the Interfaith Environmental Network to spur awareness and action in reducing their congregational carbon footprint. You can find out more at www.interfaithenvironment.org

It’s a new day! A day for us all to rise and shine and give God the glory, glory for the Alliance of Baptists and AllianceConnect!
