Advocacy in Action: Protect Welcome, Restore Hope!
Protect Welcome, Restore Hope
We stand for welcome! The Alliance of Baptists reaffirmed our support of refugees and immigrants at our recent annual meeting. Now is the work of living into our pledge to protect welcome and restore
hope. Here are some tangible things your church can do:
- Join with churches across our land and Church World Service and dedicate a Sunday to honor refugees’ and immigrants’ journeys. A resource toolkit is available to assist in teaching, praying, preaching, singing and worship planning as we all affirm refugees are welcome here!
- Help refugees feel welcome in your community. Church World Service has 34 refugee and immigration offices located in 21 different states providing services to newly arrived refugees and immigrants. These offices welcome local church engagement!
- Make an impact by giving to welcome refugees who have recently arrived, those who will arrive in the months to come, and to public witness work in solidarity with refugees and immigrants. If your church is not involved with a family’s resettlement, consider a gift to Church World Service. Their work has been dramatically impacted by the change in federal support. Take up an offering, or make a personal gift to help newly-arrived refugees as they are facing new situations far from home.
We are standing for welcome. Get your congregation involved!
