    Position Description:

    The Olin T. Binkley Memorial Baptist Church seeks an Intentional Interim Candidate to serve as both spiritual leader and organizational consultant to facilitate the congregation’s and staff’s process through the dynamic of change; including letting go of what has been, actively exploring worship and leadership opportunities, and emerging with a renewed sense of purpose as a body of Christians. It is expected that this call would be for a period of one year.

    The ideal candidate will:

      ·Be ordained and in good ministerial standing within a recognized denomination

      ·Have substantial training specifically in Intentional Interim Ministry

      ·Have experience successfully leading multiple congregations, including those within the historically free church tradition, in the Intentional Interim process as spiritual leader and organizational consultant.

    Roles and Responsibilities:

      1.Serve as supervising minister of the church staff.

      2.Serve as ex officio Intentional Interim MinisterontheBoardsandCommitteeslistedhere:

      ·Church Council

      ·Diaconate

      ·Transition Committee

      ·Long-Range Planning Committee

      ·Stewardship

      ·others as appropriate

    3.Lead the staff in providing for the worship and pastoral needs of the congregation, including sermons as an occasion for the congregation to understand, appreciate, and use the transition experience as opportunity for spiritual and organizational growth.

      4.Lead the congregation and staff to reach out into the community and perform its ministry of healing andreconciliation while exploring new ways of being a thriving church.

      5.Help church members be anchored in their church community and our wider community—to see transition as a time for healing and hearing each other in new ways.

      6.Serve as an engaged consultant to the congregation and its organizational systems and governance, providing leadership for the agendas and decisions of the transition period, and supporting us in the process of “letting go” and looking ahead to the future.

      7.Call on perspective new members and inactive members in order to build the strength of the congregation

      8.Helpthecongregationprovideasmoothtransitiontothecallofnew pastoral leadership.

      9.Officiate at communion, baptisms, weddings, and funerals as requested.

    10.Perform administrative duties, work with other church staff to provide a unified, harmonious program, and assist in congregational communication (bulletin, newsletter, correspondence, minutes, and personal contacts).

    11.Provide pastoral counseling as needed.
